It’s time to take a look at the new players on the Browns 53 man roster. This season the Browns added 7 new veterans and 6 rookies, not counting practice squad members.
The new veterans
Devin Bush, ILB #30. Bush spent 4 years with the Steelers and 1 year with the Seahawks. During his 5 years career he’s played in 65 games starting 51. He has 4 career sacks and 2 interceptions. In 2019 he was named to the NFL’s All Rookie team while with the Steelers.
D’Onta Foreman, RB #27. Foreman spent 2 years with Houston, 2 years with Tennessee, 1 year with Carolina and last year with the Bears. He’s played in 52 games, starting 21. For his career he’s rushed 552 times for 2,326 yards, 4.2 yards per carry with 14 TD’s and 7 fumbles. He also has 34 career receptions averaging 9.8 yards per catch with 3 TD’s. His best year was 2022 with Carolina when he rushed for 914 yards and 5 TD’s.
Nick Harris, C #53. Harris spent 3 years with the Browns as back-up center and blocking back in some goal line situations. He was released at the end of the 2023 season and signed with Seattle who released him, he then re-signed with the Browns during training camp.
Jordan Hicks OLB #58. Hicks spent 4 years with the Eagles, 3 years with Arizona and 2 years with Minnesota. He’s played 122 career games starting 119. He has 14.5 career sacks along with 13 interceptions and 1 TD. Last season he started 13 games for the Vikings.
Quinton Jefferson DT #72. Jefferson spent 5 seasons with Seattle, 1 season with Buffalo, 1 season with the Raiders and last season with the NY Jets. He’s played in 103 games starting 62. For his career he has 26.5 sacks and 28 tackles for loss. In 2023 he started 14 games with 6 sacks and 29 QB pressures.
Jerry Jeudy WR #3. Jeudy spent 4 years in Denver where he played in 57 games starting 44 and has 211 career receptions for 3,053 yards with 11 TD’s. His best season was 2022 when he had 67 catches for 972 yards. For his career he’s caught 62% of passes thrown his way.
Nyheim Hines RB #22. Hines spent 5 season with the Colts and 1 season with the Bills. He missed the 2023 season with injuries. He’s played in 81 games with 17 starts. For his career he has 306 carries for 1,202 yards with 10 rushing TD’s along with 240 receptions for 1,778 yards. Hines has been used as both a kickoff and punt returner averaging 11.4 yards per punt return and 25.5 yards per kick off return. In 2022 he returned 2 kickoffs for touchdowns in single game and in 2019 he returned 2 punts for TD’s in a single game.
The Rookies
Javion Cohen OT #67. Cohen made the team as an undrafted free agent after playing for the University of Miami and Alabama. In the 2022 season he was 2nd team All SEC before transferring to Miami.
Myles Harden CB #26. Harden was drafted in the 7th round (#227) from the University of South Dakota where he was 1st team All Missouri Valley Conference and 3rd team All American
Jamari Thrash WR #80. Thrash was drafted in the 5th round (#156) from Louisville where he had 18 TD’s in 2023. In a crowded Browns receiver room Thrash forced his way onto the Browns roaster with an outstanding training camp performance.
Nathaniel Watson LB #40. Watson was drafted in the 6th round (#207) from Mississippi State where he was named 2023 SEC Defensive Player of the Year while leading the SEC in tackles and sacks.
Zak Zinter G #70. Zinter was drafted in the 2nd round (#85) from Michigan where he was 3 time All Big10 and 2023 All American.
Mike Hall DT #51. Hall was drafted in the 2nd round (#54) from Ohio State. He’s currently on the Commissioner’s Exempt list following an arrest for domestic violence during training camp. It’s uncertain when or if he will play this season or remain on the Browns roster. GO BROWNS……GO GUARDIANS
